Same problem here. I can't access the site via Mac (unless I run a VPN like I am now), iPad or iPhone. Nothing works. I, too, am paying for this... tried exiting, tried rebooting, tried reinstalling, tried researching–nothing works.
Hello! Could you please try changing your settings from REAL 3D to something else here http://www.chess.com/home/livechess_settings ? We are going to fix REAL 3D boards today/tomorrow (work in progress). Thank you for the reports!
Hi Piotr, I don't see any options for REAL 3D to be changed following that link. I did change the layout of the board, pieces, etc. and saved my settings but nothing had changed when I entered a current game. I defer to your expertise with regard to why this relates to me not being able to use two apps to access an account that I pay yearly for.
Wakshe: are you using the iOS app? Or are we talking about Web client (browser-based)? Or both? Thank you!
Piotr: I am using 1) the Chess.com website via Firefox on my Mac which is running OS 10.9.4, 2) the Chess.com app for both my iPhone 5S and iPad Air (both Version 7.1.2). I cannot go to 1) unless I use a VPN (as I am doing right now); I cannot use the apps on my iDevices, period. So, "both". Thank YOU, bro!
So you mean entire chess.com site is not working for you without VPN? Or just live chess? Thank you!
Yes, that's what I mean: Chess.com does not work unless I run a VPN. I cannot get the website to pull up without it. Every instance says "Server Not Found" on my Mac and "Internet Error..." on my devices, but if that were true then nothing else would be able to be accessed (Facebook, Twitter, Bleacher Report, etc.), at least for the devices.
The problem is some third party websites (Cloudfront) that chess.com pages access block some IP addresses. If Cloudfront has decided that your IP is for some stupid reason blacklisted then you will get this problem. This is not a problem with browsers or cacheing. If you are using a proxy like Tor, or a VPN try getting a new ip address and see if that fixes the problem. Chess.com needs to stop using Cloudfront! This is why EscherehcsEs solution of using NoScript works it blocks the Cloudfront crap.
