Well it is not really scoring but a rating system that takes in the ratings of two players before a game and adjusts them both based on the result of the game.
Adjusts them ... how???
Search for "Glicko ratings" in the search box on the top right for a detailed description of how the rating system works.
If you want the short summary =>
- Your friend's rating will go up faster if he scalps stronger (or even equal-rated) players. This might be the case .... regardless of how many games each of you have played.
- Your rating will not go up so much if you play players lower rated than you.
- It is also possible that your friend is still provisionally rated (meaning => fewer than 20 or so games) so Chess.com will make the ratings increment / decrements a lot bigger since it does not have a good bead on what his actual rating might me. This might explain why his rating shoots up faster.
Hey all,
Could someone explain how the scoring works in the 'online chess' section? My friend and I have only ever played against each other and there have been times where his score was higher than mine even though I had more wins.
Thanks!
