Hey is anyone out there from the chess.com customer service? I just beat the computer on the hard level again. This time it took me 141 moves. I can send you the transcripts if you want. This is not a 2000 level program. I am 2-1 in my last 3 games against the program. More importantly, the plus minus scoring (+-) that was on on the old play against the computer program still has not been reinstated. I was promised this would be back by an Eric over a week ago when I first brought my concerns to the site's attention. In the interim I have recieved no additional responses from anyone despite continueing to post on my end. Please do what you said and return the plus minus (+-) scoring to the play against the computer program and please respect my posts with a response.

Amitprabhale is correct I just replayed the same game against the hardest level and it made the same mistake. Additionaly, the (+-) scoring still has not returned. I don't understand why chess.com makes changes to their site and asks for your input and then does nothing. I was promised the (+-) scoring would return 3 weeks ago. I pointed out the new programs week play and I can't even get a response from these people. Do they even care about us? Without us chess players they don't have much of a site.

it's a somewhat weak chess engine with some bugs. why? because it's free, and it works in browsers. it's fun for casual games. if you want to play a serious chess engine, i recommend you buy one or download one somewhere. but if you want a fun, quick opponent that has some occasional quirks, use ours. it's not perfect, but we can't fix all of the issues. we ARE working on the +/-, but the developer is a little slower than expected. so aside from taking him hostage and putting a gun to his head, there is little more i can do.

Thanks for responding. I look forward to the return of the (+-) scoring. Now, if you understand it is a chess egine with bugs in it why is it stilll being passed off as an expert program roughly equivalent to a 2000 level player if it is not? Whatever level of play it produces is what it should be listed as. The program's strength is what it is regardless of what it is listed as being.

Why can't you bring back the old program which had a stronger engine and the (+-) scoring until the new program is fixed?

As a side note my computer is clean and I have highest internet speed Cox Communications has to offer. I have just rum my anti virus software, defragged my computer and run disc cleanup earlier today. Additionally, I am running the latest edition of Firefox as my web browser and every other website I have been to runs fine and my online bandwith check shows everything is good with my connection.
If you aren't goping to do anyhting to fix a program that you refer to as "a somewhat weak chess engine with some bugs" then why make the changes tell us they are upgrades and solicit our comments on the changes if you aren't going to do anything? Ivandh, I DO NOT like your tone. For the record, my first post on the topic was back on June 29th and as I write this it is August 15th and nothing has yet been done and I had not been given an eta on the fix until 4 hous ago. The old program offered stronger play, choices of board size and (+-) scoring to highlight three glaring deficiencies in the current play against the computer program.
Ivandh, as a member of this site I am endeavoring to make sure the site is as beneficial as is possible for its members, which includes you. When the changes were made we were asked to give our end user input to help the site which I have done. Please try and respect that.
Recently, I was asked to send my opinion on the "upgrades" to your site. I am very disapointed in the changes in the play against the computer program. I just got done playing against the computer today and the (+ -) scoring has not returned. Before I was able to asses the relative strength of my openings watching the scoring. It would often point out to me when I was employing an inferior line. Additionaly I do not like the new pieces on the program and I was unable to figure out how to change them. I was promised more levels of play strength but there are still only three. On top of the that I just beat the computer on the Hard level (2000+) in 14 moves. I am not that good of a player, in fact I was not even playing very well. The computer missed a backrow checkmate threat on your hardest level, a mistake an expert or master would never make. I have included the annotation for the game below. I played white while logged in against the computer.

freezing issues should now be fixed. now to make the computer play less predictably. and then to return the "score".
The freezing issue IS NOT fixed. As it stands now, you have replaced the old play against the computer program with one that does not play as strong, does not give you board size options, does not offer (+-) scoring and freezing during usage. Why can't you bring back the old program?

the answer is NO, we are not changing the program back.
if anyone is experiencing freezing issues, please refresh your browser cache, try the same moves again, and if it freezes, go to the SETTINGS button on the app and find the version number and report it to Chess.com support.
