'Play' ignoring random moves from my DGT Board

Normally I play on the 'Live' board but as it is going away on the 14th, I figured it was time to switch.

I have just finished my first game on 'Play' and TBH it wasn't much fun.  The problem?  Make a move on the DGT board and hope CDC picks it up (my move failed to register 5 or 6 times in a single 49-move game).

There is a workaround according to a similar report elsewhere on the site.  Make the unrecognised move with a mouse and then go back to the board. I can confirm this works (for a couple of moves) but it really does defeat the point.
I know some people have issues with ghost moves and such but, in my case, 'Live' has always worked perfectly.

I understand why CDC wants to turn off 'Live' and I get that this probably applies to very few users but DGT boards are supposed to be supported.  If 'Play has all the features from Live and more' why does this feature still not appear to be stable?  angry

Have you sent in a bug report?

Do you happen to know if the DGT software is showing the move? when this happens?

I have now - I though doing a little digging first might help the issues to get resolved. For anyone interested see the links here:

I'm having a similar issue. With me though it's just one move - castling. It won't register that I castle, even when I make sure I've met all requirements.

King has never moved

Rook has never moved

King is not in check

King not castling into or through check

King moved over two spaces first, Rook second

When I do it on the board, it would register the Rook as having moved over but not the King, and then I couldn't castle to that side of the board anymore. The first time I thought it was a mistake I made, but it's happened again every single time I try to castle. I too have had to use the work around - castle with my mouse on the PC and then update the board pieces after.

Castling sort of works.  You just need to pick up and move (not slide) the King very, very fast.  Never move your rook until the King move has registered.  For details you can read this post:  https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/cdc-play-and-dgt-boards-castling-failure.

Thank you for the tip! Speed is not something I had considered at all and if anything I was moving the King kind of slow. Especially once I suspected the board was the problem and I wanted to make sure I was doing everything right. I will try the speed thing next time for sure.
