I have the same issue, I am using google chrome, it only happens when the computer is somehow cornered (Ok I am not that great, I am playing Basic), any ideas ?

Friends ~ First off, great site. It is helping me at once realize how bad of a player I am and giving me hope of improvement.
In order to avoid the shame of losing to a person, I have made a few attempts playing against the computer. Each time, after my second move, it hangs up with the COMPUTER THINKING message. I know my play is not confounding the machine so I am assuming there is some fault, perhaps an issue with IE8. I may try a different browser of folks think it would be helpful.
