playing live chess

I observed that once I registered at chess.com as a new member I was assigned ELO 1200, the starting ELO rating for beginners. However, I kept on winning on that level and after several wins chess.com gave me a warning of possible suspicion that I was cheating but chess.com was not accusing me of cheating and offered me to sign the Fair Game Policy. Chess.com doesnot know my experience in playing chess although I am not playing in regular tournaments. I have knowledge in basic chess openings, middle game and end game situations and I am playing this game since 1974 up to now.

To chess.com, please dont judge right away of cheating. I am just playing chess for leisure, not for prestige, not for money.....

It's probably just a computer generated warning so I wouldn't worry about it. Lots of folks just starting out here don't know that it's cheating in live chess to start a game with an opening encyclopedia at the ready and need reminding.  Someone really experienced like yourself could set off some alarm bells, but as long as you're not cheating you have nothing to worry about (IMHO Laughing).

paeengboy,

The message warning you received regarding cheating was an actually an automated message to your game. As we (staff and members of chess.com) are not part of the core cheat detection team, there is nothing we can say that you haven't already read in the message. I can say, though, that If you aren't cheating, you have nothing to fear, Chess.com only closes accounts for cheating, not suspicion :-)
