@OP: When you start a new game, on the first pull-down window, select the option "game options I select." Underneath, you will see another pull-down window appear that says, "This is a rated game." Select, instead, "This is an unrated game," and you will send an unrated-game challenge.
Resolved: Playing non-rated chess
Whirlwind2011... thank you sooooo very much for your detailed instruction. It is much appreciated!.............. Goddess9
I am just like you, I learnt when I was at school and have just taken it up again, playing against my computer. I would like to play against a live person. I am at the other end of the age spectrum (82) but I would like the games to take not much more than one hour. Regards Martin Cross
Hi Martin,
I would love to play you unrated. I don't normally play a full hour, because of my crazy schedule. I prefer to play the normal way on chess.com with the 3-day limit setting, and I usually check my computer to make my moves at least 3 times a day when I'm not traveling. Let me know if this works for you.
I'm so happy you've taken up chess again after so many years. It gives one a really good brain workout! I play at level 3 on my computer too. My dad is the same age as you, but has no interest in chess, although he's very active in other mind-boggling things. ;-D
How do I play a non-rated game with someone for practice?................ Thanks!
