premium membership annual

How does it work I can't find an explanation. Do you have to pay every month? or can you cancel if need be?

Yes, if you choose an annual membership plan it is just a payment once per year. Please do note that when you subscribe for a premium membership that it is automatically set on an auto-renewal basis and if you would like to cancel/end your premium membership subscription so that it does not auto-renew on the next scheduled date then you can do so on your account page at http://www.chess.com/home/account.html
