It does that on the website. 
It works on the Android app too. (At least in the beta version.)
It stopped working for me. Any idea why? Anyone else suffering this bug?

I sometimes wonder if it's a function of the opponent disabling chat. But that should ONLY disable the chat link in the menu. I should still be able to report the opponent, add friend, and follow. This happens about 30-50% of the time I'd estimate.
Hello, still having this problem, around 30% of the time. Perhaps it's just opponent disabling chat?

go to your settings. look at the very bottom. what version are you using?
The latest. 3.8.8-19709 today.

Version 4.x is out, though it may not be available for your device I guess.
Uninstall/reinstall of the app may help if the newer version isn't available for you.
