Problems with drag and dropping pieces

Sort:

A recent problem developed for me over the last two weeks. When I drag and drop pieces they fall on the wrong squares. I  already tried a different mouse (wired) and also tried a different browser. Never had the problem before. Anyone else having this problem just recently?

i have same problem in each game now

Blue_Kings

Yep! Me 2! Every game this problems occurs.
I found a site to test my drag-n-drop functions of the mouse, and it works well there.
And since Jim1 has already tried with different mice, I'm quite sure the reason is to be found elsewhere.
Could someone from chess.com maybe give us an update (or maybe even a solution) to this problem??

Hi there Blue_Kings,

For many users, clearing one's cached files and cookies resolves this issue. Will you try that please and let me know if this helps you?

Recently, on my phone, I can't seem to grab my pieces unless I click1-2 squares above them which makes pieces at the top of the board un-grabbable. Tried exiting chrome and restarting; also, I tried clearing cache. The problem persists.

Are you using the app or your mobile browser? if app, android or mobile?

Mobile browser on Android

jdcannon

Which browser? Chrome I assume?

JarretsAcc

You are correct, chrome.

I just noticed it's fine when I'm scrolled all the way to the top, but if I scroll down at all (to see the time remaining during puzzle rush for instance) I have trouble grabbing the pieces.

Yeah, I experience the exact same thing.

aha, a new clue! Seriously I've been hunting this thing for ages and have never figured out what is causing it. I shall test this.

I'm on Android  7 and use the Samsung browser, which I'm pretty sure is Chrome/Chromium based.

I don't know how the touch area is detected, but it is almost as if the board doesn't register that the screen moved.

If you scroll all the way back up, the problem doesn't present; if the page is slightly scrolled down, that is when it happens. This is on the mobile optimised version of the site.

Can you perhaps try another browser and see if you have the same issue?

Martin_Stahl

Same thing on the newest Chrome. If you scroll down enough so the top header doesn't show, you can't move pieces.
