Puzzle Reset Glitch - It's deja vu all over again

Greetings,

Whenever I reset my puzzle history (clear rated puzzle history) I virtually always get the same first 20 puzzles. This is tiresome having to solve the same 20 puzzles over and over again. The only variation is that sometimes the first puzzle is different.

I don’t think I’m the only one experiencing this glitch, given the large number of attempts listed for these puzzles.

Here are the puzzles (in order):

Why do you reset your history? There are hundreds of thousands of puzzles. You would never have to face those 20 again.

Why are those 20 offered up first? I looked at the first 5 and they seem like a test of fundamental chess knowledge. I would guess that they are trying to put players into the right rating pretty quickly.

Here are the first two:

That's not a glitch. That's a new system that was implemented as I understand it.

Martin,

The reason I called it a glitch is because I can’t conceive of any reason why this would be desirable.

You say it is a new system that was implemented. Why? For what benefit?

It is extremely annoying for someone like me who likes to reset their puzzle history and I have to go through all of these same 20 puzzles every time. I get zero benefit out of it.

It also seems bad for puzzle stats as the pass rate is inaccurately high since people get these right every time.

So I guess I’d like to offer feedback (if anyone cares) that this is a seriously undesirable system that was implemented.

My understanding is it was primarily implemented for new accounts starting out with puzzles. It also happens to impact members that reset their puzzle history, which looks like kike a member new to puzzles from a code perspective.

Rather than whack new puzzle solvers over the head with random puzzles, which may be too difficult for new players, the set of 20 puzzles offer a test of chess experience. By the time it is over, the puzzles algorithm probably has a good basis for picking the appropriate puzzles for that user.

This seems like it would be a trivial coding fix. I would sure appreciate it if they would fix this and not give the same 20 puzzles to someone who reset their puzzle history.
