Hi Support!

Feedback on reattempts :

Was there a change in the manner basic members utilising a recent historical record of attempted puzzles? On previous occasions, I was able to redo failed or passed puzzles. As of date, I am restricted in attempting puzzles from previous dates.

I could use the analysis tool to attempt a puzzle, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it was played out in the puzzle.

Feedback on functionality of a puzzle:

In the below example. Black orchestrated a far inferior move when I attempted this particular puzzle as White: Black played c3, a win for White. If Black played Ke5, this should have been a draw?
I was under the impression that puzzles will instill pattern recognition and calculation. How does this help beginners if the puzzle presented below play an inferior move in a position that was more or less equal in the first place?

Am I missing something in the concept of puzzle training? I am a newbie trying to comprehend the purpose of puzzles that play out inferior moves, so I could find the better move?

Thanking everyone for clarifying and sharing your inputs. 😊

You should be able to retry a failed puzzle as many times as you want, as long as you don't leave the puzzle. Once you do, there are limits on practice puzzles, even if you have previously completed a particular puzzle. As far as I'm aware, nothing has changed around that.

If you complete a puzzle where there is an initial move by the opponent then that move is going to be a blunder allowing a tactic or winning line. If the opponent doesn't make any mistakes, there aren't going to be tactical opportunities.

Thank you, Martin. I managed to figure it out: had to exit the puzzle exercise, then head back to this:

On previous occasions, I could reattempt puzzles l had completed for the week without exiting. It seems different now. True, for Rush and Battle; once you leave that window, you can’t reattempt the puzzles.😉

As for puzzles in the example given above, it was something that I was not accustomed with. Puzzles in training books are enveloped in recognition, calculation, motifs etc. I was not familiar with puzzles that are curated from an equal position, then formulated for a win based on an inferior move played by the opponent. 😳
