Member name [name an link removed -- MOD]

It is a fake profile using a stock pic of a model from the net. Chess.com staff members please take action. Fed up of such fake profiles on this profile. They could prove to be detrimental to the image of this site.

If you truly feel a member is impersonating a specific person you can report it. But please use a ticket and don't post it in the forums.

However, just using an image from the internet as an avatar doesn't rise to the level of impersonation.

So mean to say that the chess.com community wants to clearly state that everyone is free to put up a profile pic of any random celebrity and no action will be taken against him/her whatsoever.

You, sir, do realise that you are setting a dangerous precedent for all future issues arising due to your above mentioned declaration.

I used to think that chess.com had certain guidelines which protect the community from such malicious practices. It is highly surprising to know that you have decided to taken no action despite providing proof regarding the same. It saddens me to the core to know that the site is no longer safe for children and I would not be advising anyone to join the site due to your blatant ignorance of such issues.

Fake profile Member name - [Do YOU understand that when a mod removes a member's name and link, the posting of which violates posting guildlenes, with a warning, reposting it constitutes a serious violation. Consider this a final warning about that. -CrystalMoon]

Chess.com does not allow impersonation of other people. but putting up their photo as your avatar does not constitute "impersonation". Posting messages or adding other details to your profile to try and make it look like you are actually that other person does, but none of those things have been done to that account.

I fail to see the link between this and the safety of children on this site - having said that, the moderators can only do so much and there will be instances where unacceptable content persists for a little while before a moderator gets to it: if you definitely want to protect a child from any such images, Chess.com has actually set up a separate address where this is most definitely the case - ChessKid.com!

Thanks!
