Dear chess.com staff!

I've sent two support tickets already, but to no avail, I got no response whatsoever although 24 hours passed each time. I would like to have a refund of my 1 year membership payment which was processed on March 27, 2015 since there is a 30 days money back guarantee policy.  I really hope this post gets some attention from the staff!

If you dig down into the fine print, you'll see the 30 day only refers to first time subscribers.  Are you a first time subscriber?

Did you manage to get a refund? I just went through the same problem and I think it is VERY WRONG for them to set auto-renewal by default. I will cancel the bill with the credit card company right now.

It can take a few days but I haven't heard of anyone having problems getting refunds if they open a ticket.

But it is clearly marketed as a subscription and clear that it auto-renews unless cancelled.

Go to Help --> Billing Issues, and the Support team will help you sort out the issue.

02/20/2025 - Running into the same issue; I woke up to a 400 bill I didn't buy nor wanted. I filed my ticket and still didn't get a response. I have no words to the abyssmal dread such experience evokes. Did you get your refund?

I've contacted chess.com numerous times in the last 7 days regarding a refund for an auto-renewal, which I haven't been informed about prior to renewal. I've had no response. There seems to be no way to connect to a human, which is frustrating. Has anyone had any luck in speaking to a real person regarding refunds? I'm guessing, this is not their favourite topic.

Did you use the billing/refund related option in the Help tool?

Did the tool say you would be contacted?

Before typing into this text field , it asks me to "Please be relevant and kind ...".

I do not agree it to be neither relevant nor kind to renew my 1 year subscription without a pre-warning. It goes more in the direction of unkind greed, than in the direction of kind customer care.

Also, Chess.com appears to have a zero tolerance towards Cheating and Fraud. I think that must be something they expect only form others.

I have cancelled my subscription and will never return.

You haven't played a game in three years.

It's too bad if you never return because I think that if you apply for a refund, you might actually get one. Really. (You have to click the link to contact Support and then mention refund to get to a form.)
