Settings (e.g., whether white is always on bottom) not saved despite clicking "save" numerous times

Hi, 

This started happening all of a sudden a few days ago. 

First thing I noticed was that there were no sounds. And that white was now always on the bottom of the board (as opposed to your colour, white or black, being on bottom all the time). 

I went to my settings and noticed that sounds were turned off and that "white always on bottom" was checked on. Strange. But simple enough to fix. Perhaps my browser (Google Chrome) had an update and for some reason my cookies got fudged and all the settings were turned to their defaults. No matter. 

I turned sound back on and unchecked "White always on bottom." Save.

The strange thing is this website seems to "forget" that I saved ONE of these settings (white always on bottom = off) every time I close a tab and come back later. It's really annoying. 

Any suggestions?
