I just understood that Chess.com is spying on me. I have been looking for somewhere to live in Oslo, Norway. Going on vacation. So I was surfing the net, looking for a cheap place to live in. Then I went to Chess.com to play some chess, and guess what - every time I finish a game commersials for cheap hotels in Oslo turns up.

So Chess.com is spying on me, us. They see every move we take. This pisses me off, it is a crime against my freedom and my rights as a human being. Is the staff happy knowing about my erothic interests, where do my shopping and what I need?

I am finished playing here! And I advice you all to start thinking about what you are doing at the computer, because Chess.com staff knows all about it.

It's not chess.com that's doing the spying, it's the ads.  Try deleting all your cookies, temporary internet files, flash files, etc.

Or search for Stolkholm just to confuse them.

Isn't this just a cookies thing?

Mekis: as others noted, this isn't chess.com spying on you, it's called "targetted advertising". the things you search for and the sites you visit pay big $$ to re-target you with ads on other sites. but it's a win/win/win, because you see more relevant ads, the ad companies target more serious clients, and sites like ours make a little more $. you can always opt out of it: http://www.google.com/privacy/ads/

ps - very funny, flags :)

This is fun! I logged out of my "Crazychessplaya" profile, and surfed this site anonymously, just to see what kind of ads would pop up. I got a number of Japanese and German car ads, such as the one below:

This was to be expected, but I was definitely surprised by the "Hot Brasilian Girls" ad below:

... and what are "uncoated capillaries for GC columns" or whatever??
