What browser are you using fzweb? And why do you crack software when you can use freeware alternatives? (Ccleaner etc.)

Skaar

My computer is clean. I'm still getting alerts of script virus when I click on this post, other posts, and elsewhere on chess.com. A few minutes ago I was surfing through chess.com, and a 'Yahoo webcam and imaging add on' was blocked, bloodhound.exploit 196 blocked by Norton, and AntiVir found S/Dldr.Agent.RJ virus. All of these are coming from the site. It must be the ads.

epee55

I'm on nearly every day and have had no virus problems!

De-Lar

Skaar, there is no way it's chess.com. You are being ridiculous.  It's not the ads, it's your windows machine.

that might help. heuristics generating false-positives.

If you're relying on an antivirus to tell you when something's wrong with your computer, you don't know enough about viruses to make assertations about them.

" All of these are coming from the site. It must be the ads."

well you could always get a membership

I don't know of anyone who has ever had similar problems.

Nachos

the deal about chessdiagram causing problems happens to me too. only if i use IE and then avira tells me its a trojan, no problem when i use FF though.

TalFan

chess.com has no viruses

TalFan

You could safely add chess.com to your ignore or safe list list to stop the warnings.

silentfilmstar13

I use AVG Full with Spybot S&D.  Killer combo.

mpetten

Skaar nobody is doubting you are getting these messages but all of us who use this site every day would have our computers reduced to expensive paper weights if the site had viruses (assuming we had no AV/firewall/security suites in place which I'm sure we all do). I'd say you are getting false positives (as Erik said and I tend to agree as a past Norton user who had similar problems with other sites). I currently use AVG on my new PC and on my wife's PC I installed Avast. I access chess.com (way too) frequently on both and neither has any problems either during my time online or detected during regular scans.

Maradonna

Computers are confusing. How come you have to get all these different things, has nobody just got a all in one package.

Just curious cos my mum has a computer and she always phones and asks me questions. She got that norton 360, should I warn her against it?

If she had an ANG would she need a firewall. Perhaps a chess site ain't the best place to be asking, bit you lot seem to know something about it.

Evil_Homer

There is one cure and one cure only for Trojans.

Get some Greeks in and sort the problem out!

Maradonna

Until now the only trojons I knew of were rubber johnnies. You can imagine my shock when I first read the title of this.

Brings new meaning to Trojan Horse, that does!

Maradonna

:)

You're certainly not alone, Skaar. For the past 2 weeks I have been attacked repeatedly by trojan viruses (something called Bloodhound and another), usually 3 at a time. This only happens on this site, usually on either my homepage here or during vote chess.

Despite what Eric told me, I believe it is something wrong with the site - tried both with my laptop and my home PC, both had the same problem - so it is not just my computer.

Maybe it's because of those advertisements on the page sides...

But regardless, this is starting to became a severe irritation - I already told my chess student not to go on the site until it is fixed.

Please Eric, try and listen to us and see what's happening.

PeaceMakerZero

Just got attacked while writing this post...

Pretty sure it's the advertisements.

Maradonna

You can get a membership for a month, works out really really stupidly cheap and see if you still get attacked.

$4.95.

That's about £3.
