Start a game with another registered player

Could somebody tell me how to start a game with another registered player. I can't find any way on the site, or any help as to how to do so. And does the other player have to be online for me to start a game, or will they be notified by email that a game has started>

Go to their member page. On the right side, under Actions there is a link Challenge to Play. Click on that and it should be pretty self explanatory from there. This assumes you are talking about online/correspondence chess and not Live.

If you are talking about Live both of you will need to be in Live chess at the time to do start a game.

Thanks Martin, that's clear. I guess to play Live my friend's name will show up when she is online, and I can challenge her then. Otherwise, as you say, it's by correspondence. Thanks again.
