You should send a message directly to one of thr staff members. This way they won't find out about it days later while searching through the posts. I have always gotten messages back (very promptly I might add) from the staff when writing about an issue.
Strange look of game
Hugh_T_Patterson, thanks for your suggestion, will do it.
piotr, I'm using Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.18 on Slackware Linux 12.1
The strange behaviour disappeared after about 1.5 hours from the moment when I've created this forum thread, which is strange. I did nothing else that hitting refresh every 5 minutes.
I consider myself an advanced Linux user, so I'm not doing silly things like browsing as root etc. The chance that the problem was client-side is minimal, and it doesn't explain why things are suddenly working again. Like I've mentioned above, I've retrieved the piece images manually using wget, and those were proper files, not modified pictures as the screenshot shows.
I'm attaching a list of cookies I have from chess.com (only cookie names, no values, for obvious reasons), just in case this could help you debug the issue:
site - cookie name
chess.com - _csuid
chess.com - MCManager_im_lastPath
chess.com - tf_login_id
chess.com - tf_computer_id
chess.com - cal
chess.com - __utmb
chess.com - __utmc
chess.com - __utma
chess.com - PHPSESSID
chess.com - __utmz
chess.com - MCManagerOptions
chess.com - __qca
dsp.chess.com - OAID
Note: I didn't alter any cookies manually, I was just hitting refresh and the view of the game went back to normal by itself, with all pieces displayed on the table and correct images for taken pieces as well.
I'm attaching a screenshot so you can see what I see now.
Check out my game against DVJ.

As you can see from the FEN notation, there is a black rook on h5. It is not displayed.
Also check out the captured white pieces . They look funny in the screenshot. I've tried to download the images manually and open them in an image viewer. They look ok, so the problem is in that particular page that displays my game.
I can think of 3 reasons for this to happen:
- chess.com was upgraded and there is a bug in the new code
- this is a security issue, a partial deface
- somebody is playing tricks to me. This is a coincidence, but there is one particular person who has a motivation to do this to me, and to do it today. I can provide details via pm to a site administrator.
It would be nice if an administrator could scramble a couple of minutes and investigate this minor incident.
Edit: Typo in a word.
