taking back a move live chess

I was playing live chess, 20 minutes per side, and I was in an endgame with a pawn advantage and so good chances to win, against a player 100 ratings higher than me. My hand slipped on the mouse as I was moving and I left my queen hanging. Naturally, my opponent took it very quickly, before I had time to explain my error. He tried to take back the move but neither of us knew how to do so. Is it possible?

I do not believe that it is possible to take back a move in live chess.  The only thing to do is be careful when you move. (I do not like it, but that is how it is)

In over the board chess, it is very clear that once you take your hand off a piece, you cannot take it back, but a handslip on a mouse can happen inadvertantly quite easily.
