How do tiebreaks work? An opponent and I have one game each and I assume a tiebreak will be played. Will I be notified of this or what. I have been waiting a few days since the second game finished.

Tiebreaks only apply for tournaments. And no, it is not an additional game being played, it is imply a calculation based on results against other players in your section.

There are currently five commercial "tiebreak" programs. This helps "TDs" (tournament directors) sort out who is in first without having to look like the bad guys. In a recent over-the-board tournament that we hosted there were 4 kids that tied for fourth and five kids tied for fifth. So we look at the first tiebreak program and if they are still tied, then we use the second tiebreak system. The system is a numerical value based on who you play, rating wise and/or how many you won in a row, wether you played black or white. I hope you continue to blog  "your feelings and questions" and I hope you don't mind the "comical?" input...

Jealous of nothing.

Sorry I wasn't there from the birth of what may be some "chess prodigy". You never know until you try. That's why i play, easy to claim to be the best, but some people have to prove it.
