The move notification on the website, the pawn, can't be turned off. What that setting does is prevents the site from sending you an email when it is your move.
As to groups, you have to go into each group and configure your notifications there.

yes, i don't mind the pawn, but in addition i now also get a bell-notification each time.

Yeah, not sure that notification setting is supposed to impact that or not.
Though, you may toggle the setting back on then turn it off. It has been a while since I looked at v3 alert settings and forgot they had a separate email one.
i get to many notifications. although in the settings the only selection is
"I get a new challenge, or a game ends, or I am low on time"
I now receive a notification every time it's my move (pawn symbol and bell-symbol.
I also receive notifications for everything happening in my groups.
