Unfortunately the way tournaments are currently programmed on Chess.com, all games from the current round of a tournament must be completed whether they are relevant or not before the tournament can advance to the next round. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Maybe tournaments should be reprogrammed to end as soon as it impossible to alter the qualification results. Of course, allow the games to continue. Just let the tournament move on.
This tournament was started early this year and as you can see, there is still one ongoing chess game. Win, lose or draw, the same players will qualify to the next round.
