Unable to select opponants Avatar to check game history or abort

When starting a new game I have always selected my opponents Avatar to see their joing date and recent game history in case I wish to abort the game.

For the past week or so this has been impossible to do this as the opponents avatar and name are non-selectable at the start of every game.?

Anyone know how I can restore this important feature please. ?

Well, are you using the website or one of the apps?

I just tried it and it worked for me.

Have you cleared your cache recently?

it has always worked for the past 2 years until just last week ?

Why do you think that clearing my cache have any effect ? I am thinking that I may have inadvertently altered a setting somewhere but have no idea where to look .

Oh and I am using the website on a Windows PC

I have gone through every single setting option on this site and there is nothing anywhere that can effect the selection option at the start of a game to view opponents joining date or game history.

it used to work perfectly and now it never works.

I used to challenge for a game and then before making the first move I had the option of aborting the game up to 2x times a day if I thought the opponent was either possibly cheating or had joined in the past few weeks or days and had little play history and potentially a much stronger player than 400-500 rating. I am now forced to play every game and risk losing rating points .

There are no settings that impact that.

However, if you have a high disconnect/abandon/abort rate, as a percentage of recently completed games, you lose the ability to abort and all games that start as rated will be rated.

thank you for providing a link to explain that my account has been penalised and restricted.

This is just typical of the unfair policies of Chess.com

Why did I not receive a warning and a link to this policy BEFORE it was applied ?? that would be the fairest policy surely.!

Why was I not told that this restriction had been applied to my account ? how unfair is that!... I've just been left to spend hours going through all settings and deleting cache and all the other nonsense that is recommended when all the time it was an action applied by chess.com.!

Are members expected to read the small print of every single rule, terms of condition and policies

I have to put up with all the blatant cheating and unfair initial ratings of new members that start at 400 and decimate every opponent until the algorithm determines their true rating. Is it any wonder that so many players are eternally stuck in a 400-500 rating.

Aborts should rarely be done and I believe there is a message, with the link to an article, when you abort a game

Furthermore, if you abort that much, it is no wonder why you can’t gain elo. For me, I have been steadily gaining elo :)

I don't understand how all this is relevant to the topic. The OP was complaining about "the opponents avatar and name are non-selectable", and none of the linked articles seem to mention this at all.

Post 4 discusses aborting games.

That shouldn't prevent looking at profiles though.
