I guess, you might wanna look at your live chess settings cause there's nothing about piece promotion under puzzle settings.
Try turning off "always promote to queen" under live chess, and see what happens.

Unfortunately, it did not work. Still happening.
I noticed this started happening after the new livechess update so that could have something to do with it.

Can you bypass the auto promote by holding the Shift key when moving the pawn? Also, what browser are you using?

Shift key didn't work for me and I am using google chrome.
