Unsolicited invites, just curious

I have both received and given unsolicited invites. Thus far I have accepted all the invites that I have received. The invites I have put out were because there was no open invites available in the que for on-line chess, and I was looking for a few stronger opponents than myself to challenge myself with. I did a member search for players with two criteria in mind. One, that my opponents were stronger than myself, and two, they had finished a reasonable number of games so I was confident they would finish the game they had started.
As a member of this community I feel we should accept some of these unsolicited challenges as a way to strengthen this site. Sometimes there will be a need to refuse an invite, like to amnt games on your plate at once. As long as the inviters and invitees are polite it is a great way to test your skill against unknown opponents.
p.s. Thank you kohai for accepting my invite, then promptly kicking me around the chess board, it will serve as a learning experienceInterestingly enough, I get at least 3 or 4 game invites a day. I don't know how or why. I'm assuming I stand out more than normal because of my rank. You were probably the "lucky guy" they decided to randomly choose to invite. There probably wasn't any thought involved at all XD
Or more likely, they invited 10-30 people who fit their demands...and you were somewhere in the middle.

Seuss, I think you may have hit on it. Open seeks for turn-based have kind of dried up since the realtime chess started up. When there are seeks, in the 60 seconds it takes to do a quick review of a couple of the person's games, the seek is gone.
I agree it's good to lean toward accepting. Until recently I've been only willing to play one game at a time, with some rest and dedicated study in between. Now that I've finished basic study in all areas, I'm ready to play 2 to 3 at a time, but still don't want to get overloaded. I've had some very kind and capable people offer friendly games to help me learn, and I need to keep room for that, too.

One of the main reasons I was given when I receive invites is due to my posts (that I am active on the forums).
I believe there are a number of people who read the threads and challenge users that interest them.
Also, I have used the member search to find people that I thought would be fun to play with.

How can I access chess.com on my iPad ? I was able to enjoy playing on my long daily commute but since some brain box came up with the new wowee zowwee format I can't get it to display the board, - most frustrating! There's buttons for everything except the most useful one that simply lets you resume your game. I'm ok. With the laptop but that stays at home...
About two months ago I received an invite to a tournament, and a day later an invite to a turn-based rated game. Both were unsolicited by me, inviters where people I didn't know. I hadn't signed up for a tourney and didn't have any open seeks. This was a few days after the end of a vote chess game that I had played in. Don't know if there was a connection.
Both of the inviters had limited command of the English language, especially for the turn-based game. I enquired that I was curious how they had chosen me. Tournament organizer simply replied that if I didn't want to play in the tournament then do nothing (I think.) Inviter on turn-based game simply replied, "I love chess. I play all comers." or similar.
I was happy to receive the invites, and played the turn based game, good game. I was curious though how a stranger might come to invite me when I had no open seeks and no prior conversation though forum discussions, message, etc.
