vacation not lifted

1. Why am I still marked on vacation when I have announced that I am not?

you need to change your settings and save them, the status announcement has no effect at all.  Go into one of your games and you will see on the top of the page above the board a comment that your "games are paused" and "to change your settings click here".  Click on that link and then remove the check from the box saying "pause my games" and click on save.

See here. If you already unchecked the box then there is a bug.

 Vacation

It is possible that the auto-timeout protection feature kicked in for your account since you are a premium member. For all premium members when one of their games gets very low on time in a game their account will automatically be set on vacation so that they will not lose their games on time. If this occurs you will need to go back to your Online Chess settings page and then remove yourself from vacation again.
