Thank you for clearing that up. I'm playing someone who has 'gone on vacation' 3 days in a row and then eventually moved only to do it again the next day. He is a premium member. So that must be what is happening, he is automatically going on vacation. I thought he was just messing with me. It is kind of irritating since like others mentioned here, he was moving at a reasonable clip until he got behind a rook and 2 pawns and now it's taking forever. So I guess it's pointless to report him (her)? But at least after the game I guess I could block them so I don't have to play them again?

The best course of action is to just finish the game. Also you can play multiple games at the same time so this shouldn't be an issue.  If you win the game you will go up in rating points.

Higher Rating means less vacation abuse.

In my opinion, the auto vacation mode is a lovely feature that really helps premium members many times when they're not available online and the time is running out in their games.

Now coming back to the forum topic, I'm comparing some of my observations to facts...

  • No one can go on vacation in individual games where they're losing, and at the same time play the other games where they're having a good position. So, blaming all players who are on vacation is not correct all the time. But, checking the number of games going on in their list is advisable before reporting them to staff.
  • The games which are paused by our opponents, due to their vacation, never come on top of our game list, so, instead of worrying or being irritated for them [after all, it is our blood pressure!], we should concentrate and play our other games. Because, ultimately, that game will be played by our opponent one day or run out of time one day in our favour.
  • There should be an option for no vacation team matches just like no vacation tournaments. That way, we can accelerate the running period of club matches.
