Videos On Linux

Does anyone know why I cannot view the videos on my Linux machine? Do i need a special package or something? When i try to view the vidoes, i receive a message saying "Error Loading Media: File Not Found". Can anyone explain?

What sort of videos?

Some Flash videos won't play, even if you have flashplugin installed, as Adobe stopped supporting Linux since some 2,5 years ago. You can still use Chrome/ Chromium with the Pepper addon, which is a fairly recent flash browser addon.

Notice too that some of the major distros come packed with a crippled ffmpeg package, whiich will not play some types of videos, due to legality issues.
