What do points do?
I've always wondered about that. Why not let people spend their points on things like extra game analyses or (soon) entry to more live tournaments?
The prices could be large, but at least you would be rewarding the more actve members somewhat.
If there were any kind of meaningful reward for "points" people would post even more garbage than they do already.

Well, I guess they could request to buy something, and then the staff could look over their forums, articles, blogs, etc. to see if their posts are worth any points, or they could get rewarded points after they submit a post, so the staff can read their post, and reward then reward them with points.

I think that this would require more time and effort than staff has available. It's a nice idea that the points should be worth something, but it's tough to make it work.

Why can't the moderators do it also? They are not getting paid, and think about how many requests they can accept/decline in an hour? My mom does Customer Service e-mailing and she gets alot done in an hour. Plus, you don't have to do all of those requests immediately, there is no time pressure.

Yeah, I was think more along the lines of just making the purchases really expensive, like at least 100 pints each (depending on the feature) - naturally anyone spammin for 100 posts will get picked up.

Actually, I was thinking at least 500 points or maybe 1000, so people will really have to work for those prizes and there are probably few people out there on Chess.com, that would actually take the time, or even have the time to spam all those posts.

Perhaps, but then again 500 points to have one extra game analyzed seems a bit over the top. I was thinking 100 for an analysis, 300 for an extra tournament, and perhaps 1000 or 1500 gets you a free week's premium membership or something.
That said, what I think doesn't really matter, as it's up to the staff who probably have more on their plates atm with the new live tournaments and impending redesign.

I wasn't talking about a free analysis or a free tournament, I was talking about like a free monthly gold membership, which is the cheapest membership, (besides the basic membership, which is free).

Hello, everybody. I have been wondering what do points do on Chess.com, since I am a new member. Are they just there to show how many posts are in your topics, or are they points to spend on Chess.com for free yearly memberships, more analysis for games a week, etc. I have been wondering about that ever since I have joined Chess.com. I hope someone can answer those questions for me.
