There are several ways to learn strategy on this website and books. I also sub some guys on youtube who teach chess openings and strategy. Try them all and find an opening that you like and stick with it for a while and learn all the options and weaknesses it has to offer. I like the London system.

A good strategy to start a match is to take a look at your opponent's finished games before you start playing.

A good strategy to start a game is to take control of the center or at least have influence on the center and develop your pieces. And along that proces be alert to any tactics whenever your opponent has made his move.

Check out www.thechesswebsite.com. He has some introductory opening videos where he explains the moves and ideas with some of the openings. He also analyses some famous games with easy to understand explanations that are worth checking out. It's a good place to start out.

You need to sit in front of the board, and place your elbows and forearms parallel to the edge of the table. Then you take a long look at the board and the pieces. After a while you will notice that some pieces are placed perfectly in the middle of a square, while others are a bit off-center. Some pieces will even touch the edge of the square. You take such a badly placed piece and move it. All this is just following Tarrasch's maxim, "If one piece is badly placed, your whole game is bad."
