What's up wth VACATION?

I would love some assistance, I believe a user is taking advantage of the vacation time, or sits quietly without reporting our clock is not resetting to allow play. I noticed most of all his games are won by TIME or RESIGNATION of his opponents which is very STRANGE! I thought he already took 2 separate vacations, but now do not have any record of of his vacations, or why the clock will not continue to count to make a move, it currently does not indicate vacation. He clearly has a game advantage, so why not let the opponent make a move? The clock indicated all day today that he had 12 hours to move?? I would appreciate further clarification of vacation time.

Cool Where and how do you track someone else's vacation time if it is affecting your game? I apologize if he is playing entirely by the rules, but he has not responded. When we click to play our match vacation time should be listed on that page. And I haven't made a move in a long time yet I notice he has moved in other types of board games.  One would think he would complain because the clock isn't moving as well?

Sincerely,

Members can take vacation if they feel necessary as long as they're not using it to avoid losing or simply stall the game. If you open the game, you'll see how much vacation time the user has left underneath the board.

His clock isn't moving because he's on vacation.  The clock takes time off of his banked vacation rather than the actual game clock.

Just be patient and start up another game with someone else. If he wants to use up all his time then let him.

"If you open the game, you'll see how much vacation time the user has left underneath the board".

Usually in other games I can see the vacation time left, but not in this situation. All day yesterday he had 12 hours to move, and now it is morning his clock is indicating 7 hours to move which is incorrect, and he is  NOT on vacation according to the information before me. It's not about winning the game I'm  loosing, it about his ethical practice. How does one not be on vacation and yet have a clock wind down not by our chess clock rules, and never have to make a move? Thank you again for your time perhaps a more specific answer would help me understand his actions. I have read the VACATION time rules, and I don't see his actions applying to what I have explained and just heard as solutions. I invite further inquiry and appreciate the input I have received! I have a few clowns online too using the vacation trying to gain more time or just annoy ppl

I would love if we would abandon the whole vacation thing

Either play or play not

Just that simple

My opponent in 2 games is hopelessly lost, but he keeps using vacation time to stall and maybe hope I will just give up.  I am disappointed that the site will let people do this. This policy needs to be reexamined.  The honorable thing for my opponent to do is to resign.

One things that puzzles me is the ability to earn vacation while on vacation. I watched 2 slowpokes on an online tournament repeatedly reach the point of forfeit, and then a new vacation day would appear (in the nick of time). The forfeits took place, but 24 hours after they should have -- the extra vacation day seems wrong.

@Steve_brute- Everyone on the site gets 2 vacation days a month.  One on the first of the month and one on the 15th.

I'm suggesting that new vacation days not be awarded to players while on vacation, particularly if they have online games in progress.

ok, i figured it out now...

it is actually a setting when you have a paid account.

you can switch on time-constraint protection, so that if you forget your match, it puts you on holiday automatically..

Very frustrating for opponents though

Agree - Eliminate vacation!!! You can play anywhere in the world. Stop the abuse...Don't be a spoild sport - resign!

RonaldJosephCote

Why don't you Up_grade your account instead??

Up_grade

That opponent took vacation and I beat him in 5 moves - that was abuse of the system. I have an open invite to you. Suggest you do not anger an old VN Vet on Veterans day! Better yet you can downgrade your account and send me the money and I'll school you in tactics and congenality - of couse if you must take "vacation" then decline the challenge!

RonaldJosephCote

Since my 1st Sargent always pissed me off in the Air Force, I'll piss off any god dam VN vet, anyime I want to. I'm not interested in playing someone who's rated 500 points higher than me.  Good luck with your free congeniality lessons.

Take a vacation -  u need it!!! :)
