very interesting but why you put this flap in your nick?

Not sure what you mean. Why did I write it?  I thought it relevent about borders, flags etc.  I've travelled a bit across and through Europe, including the Basque region, and find people much the same wherever I go.  All are decent people who live either one side of a border or another.  The line on the map doesn't seem to make any difference.

I think xake meant why put the Union Jack as your flag.

Firstplay

Ah right. I didn't knowingly choose it, and if I'd realised that I had a choice probably wouldn't! Smile

r_k_ting

I didn't knowingly choose the Union Jack in my flag either.

But that's, uh... another debate Wink

Y'mean you don't like the butchers apron? Smile I remember the Gough Whitlam affair of about 1976.  The queen didn't like the way you aussies voted so sent her rep down there and disbanded your elected Govt.  Amazingly, the establishment got away with it.

r_k_ting

Yawn. Not feeding the trolls.

Don't worry though, the monarchy will go soon, as soon as the old girl carks it. Australia will be a republic. I damn well will not have Charles' face on the back of my coins.

Not this creep either I hope.

Yes, the BBC sure does produce a lot of filthy old buggers. A fine British institution indeed.

...many been knighted too...

I have worked with many people from the Basque country. As a rule they are very friendly and easy going and their personalities seem more American than Spanish. Just don't try to work on a PC loaded with Euskara Windows. Spanish keyboards and PCs are wacky but I can deal with them. Euskara is something else entirely. To the best of my knowledge the language developed in that region independently from any other language.

Give 'em a flag.

Apologies, I was mistaking Harris's association with the good n the great with a knighthood, though he seems to have had other honours bestowed on him.  A number of other convicted paedophiles and child abusers are in there though.   I'm just looking at some of his history, it's amazing who these paedophiles mix with.  How come we never knew this before?  It's horrible to be honest.  I suspect the aussies wouldn't want his picture on their currency though.

Some people feel strongly about the flag of the country where they were born. I think this can depend on whether their country has been dominated, or dominated other countries.  Either way, it doesn't put food on the table, and you can't eat a flag.  Neither do any of us choose where we are born. I always feel more comfortable in the company of ordinary people no matter where I am. More so than I do if in the company of very wealthy English people, especially as I'm from the Republic of Liverpool. Smile

Newkidonadonkey

Just put the international flag until you are a real country and focus on chess and chasing women like the rest of us.
