Why did I start getting CAPTCHA all of a sudden???

This afternoon, out of the blue I started getting CAPTCHA pages and when I got past the CAPTCHA, the page doesn't render correctly.  I had to install an extension in my browser to get chess.com to work properly.  What gives???

Why is a captcha check suddenly appearing on chess.com? Is it inserted by chess.com or  is it an unauthorised intrusion ? 

The site uses a third party Content Delivery Network and that is coming from that provider. I think it is a bug but all you have to do is refresh the page when you get it and you should get logged in.

Staff has looked into and should be checking it out again. Since it is on the CDN site and intermittent, it may take some work on the third-party provider to fix.

I started getting captcha prompts yeaterday whenever I send messages.

Yeah, it's unrelated to the original topic, but it's a mechanism to try and stop spamming that is happening. It should revert when that is resolved.

Given the number of messages generated by chess.com users, does chess.com get any revenue from all the CAPTACHA solves? 

I hate it and it's completely unnecessary, especially for paying members.  Also, it's hard to tell a lower case vs an upper case letter so you're having to enter it 2-3 times to get one right.  Bloody annoying.

Lol.. that would actually be so much easier!
