Why did it say I abandoned the game and lost 9 points... ?

... after waiting 5 mins for opponent to make a move?

can anybody tell me why this game was abandoned in my opponents favour? I was waiting like 5 minutes for THEM to make a move and so decided to send the resign flag emoji to them with a question mark to playfully push them along in their next move since he has in check and didn't have many options to take anyway. 

Then it said I abandoned the game and I don't even know how to abandon a game to be honest. Pretty sure my connection was strong as the clocks were not flashing...

Yeah actually it seems they did make the move and it wasn't showing up. Be good to turn on a sound when it disconnects to make it very apparent there is a connection issue...

This just happened to me as well. Lost 2 games in a row when winning. The timer was running on my opponent's clock, but then it said I abandoned the game. If there is a disconnection problem they should be able to tell us.  I find this to be a big issue with Chess.com, I think

They will tell you if there is an issue. But if you are disconnected HTF do you expect that to happen ?

Try clearing browser etc, see if that helps

just happened to me also. Everything looked ok. Clocks running then up popsthe message "Balck won by abandonment" I was still playing!!

Very annoying indeed.

still it looked appealing to read back then now its a whole different level it looks so bad now
