Why do images always crop to a 1:1 aspect ratio?

I really hate when images always crop to a 1:1 aspect ratio, this only started happening. Can someone make images in forums stop cropping to a 1:1 aspect ratio?

I reported this to staff a few days ago and there is a bug ticket entered so it will be looked at

You should post in an appropriate category. Things will still be seen but for a lot of things, mods can't help much other than reporting bugs themselves.
