Why is my flag gone?

This was covered some time ago. Chess.com (as well as a few other companies) do not know what to do. They are conflicted and have struggled to put out a message. On the one hand they issued a statement regarding their position. On the other hand they have supported causes in direct conflict with their statement.
Saying one thing and doing the complete opposite is not unusual in the business world (ACME products are number one in the industry) for example. Or "customer satisfaction is our number one priority". People have gotten used to companies blatantly lying about what they stand for. You can rest assured you will not get any sort of straight answer here to your question, as many chess.com employees do not even know the reasons.

Chess.com (as well as a few other companies) do not know what to do.
Chess.com know exactly what they needed to do.....and have done it.

Yes of course. And the reason you wait for 40 minutes on hold before customer service hangs up on you is because customer satisfaction is their number one priority. Because, you know, they said so. So it must be true.
For most businesses this issue is pretty cut and dried. Chess.com (a subsidiary) is in a slightly more difficult position. I expect their position will continue to change.

but why does that mean my flag needs to be blue
