Why Isn't Queen's Gambit Declined Offered as a Tournament Starting Position

So I have been studying and building my D4 repitoire little by little.  One of the best ways I have found to do this is playing tournaments with given position to run through as I try out what Im learning.  I am now studying Queen;s Gambit Declines and Slav variations.

While trying to start a tournament I became aware that there is no true Queen's Gambit Declined position offered among the starting positions.  I even searched the ECO code which apparently is D30-D69.  I cycled thorugh all of these in your tournament setup page and still came up empty handed.

Am I missing something?

TLDR:  There is no way to host a tournament with
1: D4 D5 2: C4 E6

Neither of those are the mentioned position.

The second one is a classic QGD.

The existence of which proves your contention wrong that it is impossible to set up a tournament with 1 d4 d5 2 c4 e6.

NotMTwain, you do see that both of those tournaments have different starting positions than 1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6, don't you?

Funny. The point is that if someone can create that tournament

Someone else can create a tournament with just 1 d4 d5 2 c4 e6.

So then how do you go about creating a tournament with that position?  That is the point, I want to play QGD tourney, who is the "somone" who can create it?

chrka

You can create a tournament from any legal position, even if it is not listed amongst the book openings. (Although I think you have to be in the new Chess.com to do it — look at the bottom of the page for link that says "Try the new Chess.com.")

In this case, I'd go to "Analysis" in the "Learn"-menu and click on the "Moves"-tab in the sidebar and make the moves 1. d4 d5 2. c4 e6. After that, click the "Copy FEN" button and copy the string "rnbqkbnr/ppp2ppp/4p3/3p4/2PP4/8/PP2PPPP/RNBQKBNR w KQkq - 0 3".

Then, just go to "Tournaments" in the "Play"-menu, and choose "Create Tournament" from the sidebar. Click on "Show Advanced Options" and change the "Game Type" to "Custom FEN" and paste the string above into "Your Custom FEN".

After that, just set up the rest of the options and click "Create".

(Heh, writing it down makes it seem much more complicated than it is!)
