Ask for rematch, accept rematch.

Should I go back to edit it and make it look like you are chatting hallucinations of your mind my friend?

whcih is hacrh!

I generally only tend to play friends on here so will usually accept a rematch - however I usually accept rematches if playing someone I don't know so long as they are a similar rating to me otherwise it is pointless playing someone again who I will never beat - although i do like a challenge but not an impossible challenge ....

ONE GAME IS NOT ENUFF. I DONT TAKE MY OPPONENT SERIOUSLY UNTILL

THEY HAVE SHOWN ME I HAVE 2 RESPECT THEM. IF I LOSE THE FIRST GAME I

ALMOST ALWAYS WANT ANOTHER GO AT IT. AND IF IM THE VICTOR I GRACIOUSLY

ACCEPT THE CHANCE TO PROVE IT WAS NO MISTAKE

That's funny, I don't take my opponent seriously until they turn off caps lock.

philtheforce

I always try to offer rematches or accept rematches ... but it does depend on the playing strength sometimes

Surprised

My formula has been simple: accept the rematch! I have only offered a rematch maybe three times in my life; I am regularly offered rematches and I take them. Infact, most of my rating points in both bullet and blitz were probably attained from playing not more than about ten people. Many of my games have been 10-, 12-, 15 games against the same player and I was the one in every case accepting the rematch whether I won or lost. If you've played me you'd readily recall. So, for me, the more, the merrier.

So far my formula hasn't changed.

TheGrobe

My formula is simple as well:

  • I'll accept a rematch if it is offered and I want to play with you again.
  • I'll offer a rematch if I want to play with you again.

Finito!

I don't really like playing game after game against the same opponent. Sometimes I accept rematch offers, but frequently not, and I rarely make them myself.

Edit: Maybe I said this already, I am not sure.

Of course, winning our opponent's respect is the reason we all play.  Melt them with kindness ... sure they'll call you a #@$@#$@# of a #@$@# after you win once.  Maybe just a #$@#$#-!@#!@ after the second win.  But if you hang in there, pardner, they'll send you a fruit basket after game 3.

Atos

Lol, I don't know what to do with all da fruit baskets in my house.

Maybe the funniest kind are the opponents who accuse you of cheating and then offer a rematch. Surely they wouldn't be offering it if they really believed there was cheating ? Or maybe they are preparing to cheat themselves ?

I know that the clock has beaten me a few times! Yell

Only a few?

I like these poll-like threads. Maybe there should be aggregate statistical results on the end (after a month of inactivity for example).

I agree with one of the earliest comments - if you win on white it's sportsmanlike to accept a re-match if requested, of offer one....likewise if you lose on black i think to a certain extent its fair to expect the oppononet to accept or offer a rematch. Then I'd agree that once a level of dominance has been proved, its fine to move on. If time/circumstance permits, I think its unfair to win the first game on white and not offer the chance to your opponent to play again.
