It is little things like this that nip paying membership growth...  Its is annoying I have noted the slightest disconnect for me is a loss (even for a second), where I have seen my opponents disconnect and reconnect 3 or 4 times in a 5 minute game, and many times for a while...  The gripe I have is it renders the rating system moot here, the  most basic chess rule (the Ruy Lopez rule (he liked his opponents facing the sun all the time)) "any advantage that is not a shared advantage is unfair"...

That's why I always play with increment lol just play fast and you'll get back to your time again.

auto  resign is ok because if your opponent disconnects then you get a higher rating

autoresign is terrible if im in the car I will disconnect going up a hill and lose the match. I lost so many rating points and was forced to resign in a winning position so many times. Please remove this or make it longer atleast. 60 seconds is way too short as it takes longer for me to get another connection.

A possible solution:

Auto-resign should only kick if the position is dead lost. For example: player A is move away from check-mate and they disconnect (it´s happened!), the server should let the clock run as normal in case they reconnect. However, if player B is a queen down and has no counter play, auto-resigning is totally fair if they disconnect. With a quick analysis, the server can check whether to implement the auto-resign or not. It´s WIN-WIN. The only question that remains is what point should the engine consider a position dead lost (-2?).

It´s not perfect but it´s surely better than what we´ve got.

Auto-resign sucks! It's making some people hate chess because not all people have strong and fast internet connections. And the problem is the admins would even dare removing this issue. Tss

So I'm getting this Auto-Resign prompt in a 15 | 10 Arena tournament right now and I have a few words for the morons at Chess.com. Not everyone plays 3-minute blitz. Think about your entire membership before instituting a feature which makes Live Chess unplayable for an entire segment of them.

Might be coming on a bit too strong here, but it's really unpleasant.

Yes, same here. I'm playing a 5+5 Arena tournament and I'm having 15 or 20 seconds per move according to that auto-resign feature. It's not connection related, it really is a per move limit. I don't know if the developers play chess theirselves, but the mode 5+5 does not include a per move limit... and furthermore, 20 seconds is a pure joke.

The auto-resign feature only starts to count down when you are disconnected from the live chess server, so if you have stable connection, you can spend as long as you want on the game.

And also if I remember it is typically 30 seconds
