This is why I don't play long games... 15 minutes at most.
Blitz: Opponent INTENTIONALLY not moving!
well i won't either in the future...
but now what? i have the game on and this person WON'T play & finish! :-/
Chess let the time run out and you will win. She/he might not be even playing that game and doing something else instead.
no he/she was playing up until that last move that it's obvious that i'll win. then eventhough he/she is online (even in here, i just checked), i get no response whatsoever! The connection seems perfect too-without any lag.
There should be a way to report these people. This really sucks.
What your opponent is doing isn't illegal, but it's clearly unsporting. There should be some sort of symbol beside the person's name, such as a yellow or red card, showing when they choose to time out rather than resign. (Choosing to time out is anything more than 30 seconds' left before the last move.)
I don't see any symbol besides that green 'light' showing 'excellent connection'.
Oh well i'll just wait for the time to run out, since there's nothing else i can do.
i know it's not illegal, but chess is supposed to be a 'noble' game...we should behave accordingly.

Maybe they are still online but doing something else because they know that they still have a lot of time left. Or maybe they just let the time run out instead of Resigning.
What I meant when I said there should be a symbol is that chess.com should provide us with such a symbol of poor sportsmanship, not that there is one that should be visible.
Yellow or red cards are nice, but a scarlet letter would work just as well!
oh i misunderstood..
I totally agree with you :)
I was hoping there would be such a thing, that's why i bothered to write about it here. I would assume that this happens quite often.
Blitz is less than 15 minutes. The game referred to is not blitz (where the problem is reduced). In my experience very few players are childish enough to let the clock run down out of spite when they realise they have no chance, but you can only block them and never give them the chance to do the same again.
well i hadn't been playing on facebook chess for over a year now...so when i selected blitz game, didn't care much to change the settings...when i noticed that it was over 2-hours game, it had already started!
now i'll check it more thoroughly next time!
anyway..thank you all for your feedback! :)
I usually find (a) people that let the time run out instead of making a losing move. and (b) people that resign at the first 7 moves because they lost a pawn... lame.
yeah way lame, or when theyve obviously lost they let time run out even with more than 5 minutes left. What can we do about that. It seems reporting wastes your time I understand. What if once a person is reported 3 times they are automatically kicked out so you dont have to waste time policing. People can be SO lame.

BAD IDEA. What if someone decides to ask friends and stuff to report someone. In fact, with the system in place I could ask for people to report you and you would be banned.

Hi, this is my first message on this board, so I apologize if this has been mentioned in the past.
For the last couple of hours, i've been playing a blitz game with someone....and now they're about to do their last move-my next move is check mate.
So this person INTENTIONALLY hasn't moved for the PAST HOUR! What can i do? is there someplace i can report this player, so that noone will play with her/him?
