blitz rematch humility

I was just playing a live game which I would catagorize as uneventful.  My opponent finished off with a series of blunders.  I obliged him and accepted his offerings.  He resigned.  Then the inevitable rematch offer popped up.

Question:  shouldn't rematches be saved for after good, close games?  I understand that after one blunders one's ego is bruised, I'm in this position myself frequently.  However, I have the humility to go off and lick my wounds quietly.  I don't smack the rematch button as soon as I have thrown away my last rook!

It's a matter of humility!

No, you rematch to get another match... that's all.

It makes perfect sense to want to play another game where you don't just blunder.

There's actually a very simple reason why you click for a rematch. At higher levels of competition there are fewer good players, especially in open games. Ie. If you don't know specific people, you are unlikely to get another player of a similar rating.

Put simply, a lot of people don't like vs. players 200+ points below them. If you've just vs. somebody your own level you want to stick playing at that level.
