Blitz
The more time you think the better you play. This applies to everyone. You may have not been able to "control" the match had your opponent used longer time to think. Everyone should be able to accept this.
It's about time management. It IS part of chess.
If you think that correspondence is the real chess, what do you think of the standard tournament time control used in world championship?
If you think that real chess should at least be 60 minutes per side, your uncle might think that it should at least be 59 minutes, and your aunt may think it should be at least 61 minutes. The point is: there is no distinct boundary about real chess and unreal chess.
Don't forget that different places have different popular time controls. In my place, there are usually hundreds of participants (chess is more popular here than in your country). It will be expensive (for space rental) if the time control is as long as G/60. And it must be finished in 2 days of weekend (to avoid school and work days).
In the future, even for world championship, I believe the time control will be shorter not longer. And correspondence chess may lose its popularity significantly due partly to engine interference.
If you have to aim for G/30. In many situations, I believe playing blitz will be more beneficial than playing correspondence.
