Can you checkmate with a premove despite disconnection?

I recently played a game where my opponent was completely lost but decided to make me wait. I had mate in one and premoved it. Then I had connection trouble. Fortunately, my connection came back quickly, but if it hadn't, would I still have won?

I tried against a friend in an unrated game. It doesn't work. Premove checkmate, lose connection => lose game.

It would be nice if you could win like that.

Premoves are store client side and are only sent one at a time when receiving your opponent's move. So if you're disconnected long enough it won't matter if you premoved.

if this was a thing we could look at the internet warning thing and pull a Hikaru
