Sure, it's a nice thought, but it's a lot harder to do than you might think. The only way to ensure someone is in the chat room 24 hours a day 7 days a week would be to pay all of them, thus adding substantial cost to running the site.
There are some volunteer mods in the room, and they do a pretty good job when they are there.
I have asked about this before and was just told. "well you can always block chat".
But I'm not going to block chat, however you guys take a pathetic stance on what is okay for people to say in chat. Sure, I don't mind a few cuss words but when some of the people on this site say som extremely horrible things. It really makes me think that all chess players have some serious mental and emmotional problems. Really turns me off from the sport. It seems that Chess.com fully accepts the behavior of some of the horrible things people will write to you in chat as well as on your own "wall".
I completely understand that I can turn off chat and all that, and I don't mind someone saying some bad words. But when they bring about horrible racial slurs and say extremely derrogative things and have Chess.com staff tell me some bullshit is pretty pathetic.
I mean you have this wall and the only thing I have ever had posted on my wall was horrible nasty comments. Never anyone saying something like good chess match. What is the point of having the wall? You seem to be encouraging this behavior!
All I ask is that there is some kind of chat moderator. Someone that we can report chat issues to. If someone happens to be in violation of abusing chat, then ban their chat for a few days or a week or permantely. There is absolutely no reason a system like this should not be in place. It would really help to improve the site IMO. If I had kids I would not let them play chess on this site. I played chess as a kid and most the chess players in the world are kids and they do not need to be subjected to some of the nasty things said on this site.
Just my 2 cents.
