The site closes tens of thousands accounts each month for fair play violations.

That all said, discussions of cheating, potential cheating, or cheat detection are not allowed in the general forums.

I've noticed after playing quite a few games that every 10 or so games, the opponent is playing far better than their ranking. I've checked and it's not new players climbing up their ranking as I currently am. Nor have I found any compelling reasons why this is so.
So my question is, how common is cheating and is anything done by chess.com to curb it, and is there anything I can do to prevent it or detect it better?
I'm referring mostly to days games.
I'm new here, so apologies if it's in the wrong section or it's a topic that already been thrashed out.
