um... you are not clear... i think you meant to ask\say if chess was about tactics... is that the essence of the game?

i think not, i think that tactics are an important part of the game, but they can only be fulfiled if your position is already won. so making correct, positional and logical moves is more important than tactics. and is closer to finding the essence  of the game.
