I'll ask around. I have the app on an iPod so idk if there's a difference.
Chess.com App question
that would be great. At this point i have no idea what I'm playing against, and how/if it counts towards anything.
Thank you.
Here is the answer to my questions directly from Chess.com support:
Milos1977,
Thanks for writing in. The chess.com computer isn't associated with any specific engine. As for the strength level, that is the only way to decide strength of the computer, and the higher the number the more time the computer has to think. As for ratings and standings against other players, the games against that computer aren't counted towards your personal Chess.com rating. If you'd like to gain a rating you'll need to play online games (days per move) or live chess (short blitz, bullet, or standard games). We do have rated and unrated versions of both online and live chess games.
Hope that helps!
Best Regards,

Hi, I would like to start building my rating by playing chess against Computer in Chess.com app for android. I just installed it, and I have few questions about it.
1. When playing agains Computer, which engine is being used. Can i choose stockfish for example?
2. I only see strength levels in seconds/minutes ? Are those settings strength levels as in how long the computer will "think" per move, and are they the only strength settings? Basically only 6 levels?
3. Will my wins and losses be counted in for my personal rating, and is this optional. Can this be enabled/disabled?
thanks in advance
Milos
