Hit me...
Going, going, gone
Now I played Rook e1 a long time ago
Don't you see how late they're reactin'
They only move and they move when they wanna
So check the board if my connection's a goner...
(with apologies to Flavour Flav...)

chess.com's live chess bugs and more people should take a stand. well done socket2me. we all keep pretending like this site is really committed to being better, but the truth is, it's only committed to "getting" better. i'm sorry but chess.com should step up.
and i'm sure this thread will inspire non-stop praise for eric and the staff and i think there is some good to be said about them and what they try to do. and i dig a lot about this site, but live chess blows--always has and probably always will.
OH NO don't say that!!!! live chess 6.7 is just around the corner--thanks for your patience. silly.
i'm just as frustrated. but we're on the right path. very encouraged. but i recognize that the bugs are maddening.
Just lost my first game due to "connection interrupted" aka chess.com is bugging. Most all of the time the thing does re-connect, after either just a couple of seconds or in some cases a minute or more, and I can keep on playing - this time it did not, it just sat there with the "reconnecting" message box up. This happens not just occassionally, it happens *several* times during *every* game - and I have a dsl connection. At the very least, wouldn't it be a super easy fix to discard games that the chess.com server drops rather than crediting either player with a loss?

How do you be better without first getting better? One's the destination, the other is the route and both are necessary. You say this as though the complete ground up revamp of Live Chess was done just to provide the illusion of trying to improve their offering -- now I think that's silly.
i just don't get, i now played 39 live chess matches without the slightest problem. When i read the topics related to live chess i get the impression i'm the only one on this planet to do so.
Live chess is sleeker and faster than its predecessor, if it's furher developped - great - if not, i can live with that...
regards

you're right it is silly. although, i do think it is illusion some level. as long as they say they're fixing it--they must be. and i'm not saying the staff here want live chess to suck, but i recognize that it does suck and has done since i came here--on some level.
I think this version is an improvement over the previous one and have faith that it will be the foundation for one that eventually does not suck in the slightest, but even if it does not, at least its a gift horse....
When I tried live chess, I always thought it was my computer causing the foul ups. Now I know better.
Wanted to post a hopefully useful comment. The live chess is screwing up for me again. I was in the middle of a game, get the "connection interrupted reconnecting" message. It reconnects in just a few seconds. I play another couple of moves - then WHAM the board reverts to the starting position and I've got this "loading..." spinning dealy sitting there doing nothing. Here's the part I hope is useful - when I look over to the "chat" every comment written is being doubled. So its like this:
Person1: hey everybody
Person1: hey everybody
Person2: whats a good response to kings gambit??

Person3: anything works

Person1: yup

Nope - definitely did not. And I'm using firefox and not IE as was suggested somewhere along the way as I was initially signing up.

try refreshing and going back in
Oh yeah I can definitely do that. I refresh the page and it'll go back in, no problem there, and of course the game that was dropped I lose. And I've lost the last 2 games in a row I've attempted to play because of this problem - the last one yesterday, and the first game I tried to play today. My guess is it will happen again, and this kind of thing drives me crazy - it's like trying to put up a beach umbrella in the wind. I'll be playing elsewhere for the time being. I can't deal with this type of frustration.
Well what i think is that live chess 2 has improved for 95% of the people and 5% of the people have not received the great connection. So they complain which is natural, but isn't it incredibly offensive the say this site is rubbish? There always will be some who do this, but it is discouraged and so please stop saying live chess is bad. Things are being done about it with or without your comments. The only positive to your comments are that it will get the chess.com staff to try and fix bugs/problems faster, but i assure you they are probably already doing that without your help. There are other people without you, and every little helps to attack live chess. So i suggest you get your "little" part out of it and so the many "little" parts won't build up to a big "revolt" and become a negative thing.
Note: its ok to state problems and say your a little annoyed, but the OP of this thread is a bit over the top for me.
I've tried hard to embrace live chess. I enjoy playing games where there is instantaneous action. But for some reason, I get disconnected too frequently. I am sick of playing 20 min. games and wait 20 minutes, thinking my opponent hasn't moved, only to find that I was disconnected after my move.
I have wasted 20 minutes of my life waiting for nothing.
*I enjoy your CC chess, because I'm insured on determining my own destiny, without worrying about disconnections. Live stinks and is a downside to this site and I question if it's even worth keeping track of ratings because of it.
