Is there a way of choosing the country of origin of your opponent in live chess? Its not prejudice, I just think it would be fun to be able to randomly choose who I want to play from different continents and countries.
No, but if you play a lot of correspondence tournaments, you will see the widest variety of origins. I think this happens because people play at all hours of the day around the world while live chess tends to draw players from the same hemispheres.

I hear what you are saying but this is the internet. As i said before anyone here can post a flag from any country they want regardless of what country they are from of where they live. You can always ask an opponent: "Are you from <insert country here>?" But that does not mean they are actually from that country. You just dont know.

This may be good but it would also have problems as people trying to play someone from say the Aland islands would have few options other than nerves that would lead to people making forums titled new function pick a country does not work.

Exactly. The only reason I can think of why this isn't in Beta is because it would remove any sense of challenge with passports.
